Ch Energy Eng sees minimal impact from Jiangxi accident
China Energy Engineering Corporation (03996) :
said the collapse occurred November 2016 in the construction platform for the cooling
tower of Fengcheng power plant phase III extension project in Jiangxi Province where 73
people were killed and 2 people injured is a liability event of safety production, 
according to the investigation report on the accident recently published by the
investigation group.
  The investigation group affirms that the direct cause for the accident is the form 
removal by the construction unit of the cooling tower, Hebei Yineng, in violation of the 
regulation, which led to the collapse.
  The investigation group proposes to serve the punishment of demerit recording against
Wang Jianping, an executive director and the chairman of China Energy Engineering and to 
serve the punishment of demerit recording against Ding Yanzhang, an executive director,
vice chairman and general manager of China Energy Engineering. 
  According to the audited financial data in 2016, the proportions of the operating
revenue, profit before tax and value of newly-signed contracts of Central Southern China 
Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. for 2016 in those of China Energy Engineering
are insignificant. As such, China Energy Engineering considers that the accident had no
material and adverse financial impact.

HSI Falls 87 pts; CHINA LIFE Dives 4% Hang Seng Index opened up 87 pts this morning but it receded when China announced its official manufacturing PMI for January which missed the market expectations. Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries.
