SHCI Closes Down 0.25% before Labor Day On the last trading day before Labor Day, Shanghai and Shenzhen markets moved sideways with transaction amount of only RMB366.4 billion for the day. Shanghai Composite Index closed at 2,938.32, down 0.25%. Shenzhen Component Index inched down 8.37 pts to 10,141.54. CSI 300 Index and ChiNext Index sagged 0.12% and 0.77% to end at 3,156.75 and 2,138.74 respectively.

Following the downtrend of U.S bourses, Hang Seng Index opened down 172 pts or 0.8% to 21,215 and Hang Seng China Enterprises Index opened lower 78 pts or 0.9% to 8,982. After market open, Hang Seng Index saw a widened decrease with a loss of up to 364 pts to the trough of 21,023 at nearly 20-day MA (20,986 pts). The benchmark index finished the day trading down by 320 pts or 1.5% to 21,067. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gave up 121 pts or 1.3% to 8,939. Market turnover totaled $60.656 billion. HSI Falls 115pts, Weighed Down by Tencent On the eve of futures settlement day, Hong Kong bourses traded mixed. Hang Seng Index once peaked at 21,442 after opening lower 34 pts but retreated to the trough of 21,277 before midday. The benchmark index sank 50 pts or 0.2% at morning's close to 21,356. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index advanced 21 pts or 0.2% to 9,037. Half-day market turnover amounted to $30.021 billion. AIA (01299.HK)    -0.350 (-0.740%)       Short selling $128.33M; Ratio 21.909%      retreated 1%. STANCHART (02888.HK)    +4.350 (+7.323%)       Short selling $19.53M; Ratio 4.497%      reported a 59% slump in the first-quarter pre-tax profit but it swung into profit on a quarterly basis. Share
