HSI down 33 pts; MENGNIU DAIRY Jumps 4%

Hong Kong bourses retreated today after seven-day rise. China's first quarter GDP was in-line, with a year on year growth of 6.7%. Hang Seng Index lost 103 pts at most after opening higher 36 pts. It receded 33 pts or 0.2% to 21,304 at midday. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index faded 27 pts or 0.3% to 9,210. Half-day market turnover amounted to $34.1 billion. 

Blue chip domestic demand stocks shot up. MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK)  +0.480 (+3.687%)    Short selling $28.34M; Ratio 16.371%   jumped 4%. WANT WANT CHINA (00151.HK)  +0.100 (+1.565%)    Short selling $18.99M; Ratio 52.216%   and TINGYI (00322.HK)  -0.050 (-0.530%)    Short selling $5.88M; Ratio 14.180%   gained 1.6% and 1.4%. HENGAN INT'L (01044.HK)  +0.450 (+0.621%)    Short selling $15.66M; Ratio 31.281%   rose 1.2%. 

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +0.250 (+0.510%)    Short selling $20.70M; Ratio 4.278%   added 0.4% to $49.2. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +0.300 (+0.334%)    Short selling $63.88M; Ratio 11.206%   lifted 0.2%. TENCENT (00700.HK)  -0.400 (-0.242%)    Short selling $46.00M; Ratio 7.230%  inched down 0.1% to $164.9. AIA (01299.HK)  -0.600 (-1.313%)    Short selling $148.81M; Ratio 23.371%   slid 1.4%. Chinese financials held steady. ICBC (01398.HK)  +0.010 (+0.231%)    Short selling $32.01M; Ratio 7.901%   climbed 0.2%. Chinese insurer CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.080 (+0.405%)    Short selling $105.30M; Ratio 22.144%   edged up 0.1%. 

Based on foreign media report, Norway Sovereign Wealth Fund withdrew its coal investment and disposed of a number of Hong Kong shares. CHINA RES POWER (00836.HK)  -0.380 (-2.487%)    Short selling $3.81M; Ratio 11.034%   and CHINA SHENHUA (01088.HK)  -0.320 (-2.374%)    Short selling $74.49M; Ratio 60.718%   dived 2.1% and 2.2%. YANZHOU COAL (01171.HK)  -0.160 (-3.397%)    Short selling $3.06M; Ratio 8.299%   fell sharply by 4%.
