Hang Seng Index followed the uptrend in the Asian region and leaped 344 pts at most to the peak of 24,046 today. It eventually finished at 23,998 pts, up 296 pts or 1.2%, setting a one-month high. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 126 pts or 1.2% to 10,755. Market turnover rose to RMB82.936 billion.

A-share markets rallied today with the Shanghai Composite Index breaching above the 2,400 level. X ISHARES A50 (02823.HK)  +0.250 (+2.729%)    Short selling $887.62M; Ratio 33.405%   and CSOP A50 ETF (02822.HK)  +0.240 (+2.637%)    Short selling $232.65M; Ratio 10.342%   bounced 2.7% and 2.6% respectively. Mainland insurance stocks also outperformed. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.550 (+2.428%)    Short selling $69.99M; Ratio 7.351%   and PING AN (02318.HK)  +1.350 (+2.177%)   Short selling $96.28M; Ratio 8.340%   jumped 2.4% and 2.2%.

CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +2.450 (+2.605%)    Short selling $304.61M; Ratio 14.825%   led gainers, with a 2.6% surge to $96.5. TENCENT (00700.HK)  +1.700 (+1.395%)    Short selling $287.93M; Ratio 12.693%   advanced 1.4%. Both stocks contributed gains of 75 pts to the HSI.

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +0.400 (+0.510%)    Short selling $232.25M; Ratio 22.051%   underperformed the market and edged up only 0.5%. STANCHART (02888.HK)  -4.200 (-3.382%)    Short selling $384.80M; Ratio 35.406%   tumbled 3.4% further to over 5-year low.

As Shanghai Stock Exchange was said to conduct a rehearsal for the Stock Connect program tomorrow, HKEX (00388.HK)  +3.400 (+2.018%)    Short selling $56.91M; Ratio 5.229%   rallied 2%. Brokerage stocks HAITONG SEC (06837.HK)  +0.420 (+3.261%)    Short selling $10.56M; Ratio 2.946%   and CITIC SEC (06030.HK)  +0.660 (+3.533%)    Short selling $22.31M; Ratio 11.828%   soared over 3%. CHINA CINDA (01359.HK)  +0.170 (+4.857%)    Short selling $2.54M; Ratio 0.647%   leaped 4.9% and became the best performer among HSCEI constituents.

Gaming blue chips continued moving higher. GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)  +2.600 (+5.164%)    Short selling $122.41M; Ratio 12.977%   rocketed 5.2%. SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK)  +1.400 (+2.985%)    Short selling $161.73M; Ratio 15.505%   gained 3%. MGM CHINA (02282.HK)  +0.750 (+3.106%)   Short selling $13.89M; Ratio 6.654%   advanced 3.1% on better-than-expected quarterly results.
