During the period from January to September 2014, China's coal production recorded a small drop compared with a year ago, but the substantial decrease in coal output in September dragged down the production for the first three quarters, according to the data released by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

The People's Bank of China announced to reduce the financial institutions' RMB lending and deposit benchmark interest rates starting from 22 November 2014. The one-year benchmark lending rate is to be reduced by 0.4 percentage points to 5.6%; one-year benchmark deposit rate is to be reduced by 0.25 percentage points to 2.75%. Meanwhile, the financial institutions will be allowed to offer deposit interest rates of 1.2 times the benchmark rate, as compared to 1.1 times at present.
