SMIT (02239) invests in StorArt and Sensel

  SMIT Holdings (02239) said it has completed its
investments in StorArt Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd and Sensel, Inc.
  The company has completed the Rmb20 million investment in StorArt for about 3.4% stake 
in StorArt's share capital.
  StorArt is an advanced integrated circuit design company based in Shenzhen, the PRC. 
StorArt specializes in the development of flash memory main controller integrated circuits
which are mainly supplied to the communications, consumer electronics and data processing
industries.
  SMIT also subscribed for a US$2 million promissory note which may be converted into
common or preferred shares of Sensel. Sensel is an advanced sensory technology company 
based in the United States. Sensel's key technology is the pressure grid technology which
combines industry-leading performance and the extra dimension of control in the form of
force sensitivity.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
