CN Developers Buck Mkt to Slip Over 2-7% Broadly on Concern over Industry Drawing Capital at Peaks

USD/ CNY upsurged 500 bps to surpass 6.42 after midday and last posted at over-two-year high 6.4138 while USD/ CNH also spiked nearly 400 bps to over-two-year high 6.4164. Nevertheless, CHINA JINMAO (00817.HK)  -0.190 (-4.786%)    Short selling $129.60M; Ratio 3.253%   placed shares at nearly 7% discount to raise over $3.3 billion net proceeds, sparking market concern over the possibility that Chinese property developers may draw capital at peaks for raising funds. Chinese developers generally bucked the market to decline. CHINA JINMAO slipped 3.8% to $3.82, on volume rising to 1.13 billion shares, bolstered by 900 million placing shares on board.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
