HSI Jumps 292 pts; TENCENT Strengthens
Hang Seng Index continued to fare well, rising for fourteenth consecutive trading day. The three major U.S. stock indices marked new highs last night (11 January). Hang Seng Index opened up 177 pts and further advanced afterwards after the Mainland announced that imports in RMB terms rose 18.7% yearly in 2017 with exports growing 10.8%. The benchmark index concluded at nearly intra-day high at 31,412, soaring 292 pts or 0.9%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lifted 173 pts or 1.4% to end at 12,468. Market turnover reached $138.974 billion.

Chinese insurers PING AN (02318.HK) +2.850 (+3.411%) Short selling $542.19M; Ratio 11.038% and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK) +0.400 (+1.633%) Short selling $107.93M; Ratio 8.223% soared 3.4% and 1.6%, of which the former became the best performing blue chip. Lufax said to list in Hong Kong in April.
