China Association of The National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI) recently released the operational data of the Shipbuilding industry for the first eight months of 2014. According to the data, the industry has undertaken new orders of 47.4 million DWT during the period, representing an increase of 35.8% year-on-year.

However, the industry analysis pointed out that due to the slowdown of global economic growth, new vessel prices dropped and the completions continued to decline together with the fall in companies' economic efficiency. The market outlook is getting grim.
