As the PBOC was said to have conducted SLF operations totaling RMB500 billion to five big banks recently, Chinese banking stocks rallied, with BANKCOMM (03328.HK) +0.130 (+2.317%) Short selling $34.07M; Ratio 13.583% as the strongest, which advanced 2.3%. The other four big banks rose 1.1%-2%.
With the rebound in international oil price, Chinese oil stocks also closed higher. PETROCHINA (00857.HK) +0.400 (+3.876%) Short selling $358.79M; Ratio 27.643% jumped 3.9% and became the best performing HSCEI constituent. CNOOC (00883.HK) +0.280 (+1.975%) Short selling $138.99M; Ratio 16.518% and SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK) +0.070 (+0.986%) Short selling $65.10M; Ratio 3.964% moved up 2% and 1% respectively. CHINA OILFIELD (02883.HK) +0.600 (+2.878%) Short selling $15.86M; Ratio 6.892% also gained 2.9%.
Technology stocks headed north. TENCENT (00700.HK) +3.000 (+2.479%) Short selling $409.28M; Ratio 16.266% elevated 2.5% with the turnover topping $2.5 billion. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK) +0.420 (+3.621%) Short selling $74.12M; Ratio 11.313% soared 3.6%. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK) +0.850 (+0.895%) Short selling $486.24M; Ratio 22.397% climbed 0.9% after a drop of over 3% yesterday. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) +0.550 (+0.668%) Short selling $195.45M; Ratio 14.489% also rose 0.7%.
With brokers' bearish views on gaming revenue outlook in Macau, gaming stock SJM HOLDINGS (00880.HK) -0.880 (-5.063%) Short selling $40.55M; Ratio 8.093% plummeted more than 5% to a 14-month low. SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) -1.700 (-3.846%) Short selling $122.72M; Ratio 5.646% and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) -1.300 (-2.569%) Short selling $117.25M; Ratio 8.087% tumbled 3.8% and 2.6% respectively, becoming the worst blue chips of the day.
