SHCI, SZCI Close Up Over 1%

 Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets continued higher 0.6%-1.4% today. The ChiNext Index, after a two-day rise, recorded the smallest gain. Shanghai Composite Index and Shenzhen Component Index hit the high/ low at 2,868/2,824 and 10,178/9,982 to finish the day trading at 2,867/ 10,161, up 1.1%/ 1.2%. Shenzhen Stock Exchange A Share Index and CSI 300 Index closed the day higher by 1.4%/ 0.9% to 1,932/ 3,063. Turnover of Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses increased to RMB225.9 billion and RMB343.7 billion.

HSI Falls 87 pts; CHINA LIFE Dives 4% Hang Seng Index opened up 87 pts this morning but it receded when China announced its official manufacturing PMI for January which missed the market expectations. It hit the low by declining 238 pts and last stood at 19,595, down 87 pts or 0.4%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 96 pts or 1.2% to 8,144. The market turnover amounted to $69.5 billion. Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
