HSI Rebounds 403 pts; Chinese Insurers, Oil, Infrastructure Stocks See Supports

Stock markets in Europe and the United States headed north with the oil prices, sending Hang Seng Index to open 484 pts higher this morning. The increase once widened to 511 pts and the index hit the high for more than two weeks. It finished the morning session at 19,327, up 403 pts or 2.1%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 245 pts or 3.1% to 8,174. The market turnover amounted to $42.468 billion.

Almost all of the blue chips fared well. HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +1.450 (+2.929%)    Short selling $25.04M; Ratio 6.937%   advanced 2.6% to $50.8, reclaiming the level of $50. The bank contributed 46 pts rise to Hang Seng Index. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +1.450 (+1.747%)    Short selling $107.53M; Ratio 20.729%   and CHINA UNICOM (00762.HK)  +0.240 (+2.840%)    Short selling $19.28M; Ratio 9.726%   ticked up 1.4% and 3.4%. AIA (01299.HK)  +1.000 (+2.614%)    Short selling $113.58M; Ratio 14.978%   and TENCENT (00700.HK)  +4.100 (+2.967%)    Short selling $214.28M; Ratio 17.622%   soared 3.1% and 1.4%. In addition, STANCHART (02888.HK)  +1.850 (+3.878%)    Short selling $3.98M; Ratio 4.052%   leaped 3.6%.

Chinese insurers led the uptrend. PING AN (02318.HK)  +1.300 (+3.957%)    Short selling $168.42M; Ratio 17.654%   and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.620 (+3.638%)    Short selling $45.82M; Ratio 9.197%   jumped 5% and 4.2%

Infrastructure and building material companies received more buying orders. CHINA COMM CONS (01800.HK)  +0.550 (+7.824%)    Short selling $29.45M; Ratio 10.496%   rocketed 6.5% to $7.49. CHINA RAILWAY (00390.HK)  +0.360 (+7.143%)    Short selling $18.09M; Ratio 13.765%   elevated 6.5%. ANHUI CONCH (00914.HK)  +0.800 (+5.175%)    Short selling $10.38M; Ratio 4.616%   increased 3.1%. JIANGXI COPPER (00358.HK)  +0.220 (+2.743%)    Short selling $11.51M; Ratio 25.243%   soared nearly 4%.

The oil producing countries decided to freeze their production, sending New York oil futures higher by 5.6% to reclaim the level of US$30. CNOOC (00883.HK)  +0.420 (+5.392%)    Short selling $127.52M; Ratio 28.492%   went up 5.3%. PETROCHINA (00857.HK)  +0.290 (+6.017%)    Short selling $63.16M; Ratio 20.441%   and SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK)  +0.160 (+3.756%)    Short selling $15.76M; Ratio 5.337%   mounted 5% and 3.8%. CHINA OILFIELD (02883.HK)  +0.540 (+10.131%)    Short selling $56.66M; Ratio 31.355%   even skyrocketed 10.7%, being the best performing red chip.
