HSI Rises 282 pts; CN Financials, Oil Stocks Bounce

 New York oil futures saw a significant rebound of nearly 8%. Hang Seng Index opened higher 198 pts this morning and reclaimed the level of 19,000. The benchmark index once leaped 346 pts at most to the peak at 19,338. It eventually finished the morning session higher by 282 pts or 1.5% at 19,274, reclaiming 10-day MA. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index recouped the level of 8,000, rising 161 pts or 2.1%. Market turnover totaled $38.57 billion.

AIA (01299.HK)  +0.950 (+2.439%)    Short selling $167.54M; Ratio 15.329%   , after plunging for 5% yesterday, jumped 3.1% today to reclaim the level of $40. Following quarterly results announcement, LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK)  +0.210 (+3.177%)    Short selling $136.50M; Ratio 40.608%   steadied and bounced back 3.3% this morning. TENCENT (00700.HK)  +0.300 (+0.212%)    Short selling $98.85M; Ratio 8.867%   inched up 0.5%. 

Real estate developers bounced back since William Dudley, president of Federal Reserve Bank of New York, hinted on the slower pace for U.S interest rate hike. As revealed by press coverage, WHARF HOLDINGS (00004.HK)  +0.700 (+2.009%)    Short selling $10.15M; Ratio 18.349%   joint hands with GREENTOWN CHINA (03900.HK)  -0.120 (-1.993%)    Short selling $1.52M; Ratio 15.583%   and other financial groups for the bid of Beijing land with RMB5.1 billion. SHK PPT (00016.HK)  +1.250 (+1.545%)    Short selling $47.15M; Ratio 40.558%   and SINO LAND (00083.HK)  +0.150 (+1.550%)    Short selling $2.55M; Ratio 9.741%   escalated nearly 2.7%. In addition, HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK)  +0.500 (+1.264%)    Short selling $1.82M; Ratio 1.578%   and HK & CHINA GAS (00003.HK)  +0.240 (+1.775%)    Short selling $17.44M; Ratio 27.056%  soared 2.7% and 2.8% respectively.

Chinese financials also recorded a rebound. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  -0.220 (-1.267%)    Short selling $233.10M; Ratio 43.613%   and PING AN (02318.HK)  +0.350 (+1.062%)    Short selling $78.84M; Ratio 14.712%   added 0.3% and 1.7%.

CLSA lowers Beijing Ent Water (00371) to HK$6   CLSA cut its target price for Beijing Enterprises Water (BEW)(00371) by 8% to HK$6, and reiterated its "buy" rating.   The research house said BEW's share price has dropped 14% in the last two trading days.
