Nikkei Closes at 16,819.59, Down 225.4 pts ( 05.02.2016)

 Japanese stocks recorded a widened decline in the afternoon. Nikkei-225 Stock Average last closed at 16,819.59, down 225.4 pts or 1.32%.

Toyota, Honda and Nissan dropped approximately 2%-3.3%. Toshiba expected the annual loss to widen. The stock collapsed over 11%. Nikon's net profit in April-December rose 28%. Its share price surged by 4.6%. Yamaha Corp. rocketed over 15% after it lifted its annual operating profit forecast and announced a share repurchase plan.

HSI Falls 87 pts; CHINA LIFE Dives 4% Hang Seng Index opened up 87 pts this morning but it receded when China announced its official manufacturing PMI for January which missed the market expectations. It hit the low by declining 238 pts and last stood at 19,595, down 87 pts or 0.4%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 96 pts or 1.2% to 8,144. The market turnover amounted to $69.5 billion. Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
