HSI Opens Up 124 pts; Led by HSBC Holdings

The U.S three major indexes hit a new high yesterday (25 January), with Dow Jones Industrial Average first exceeding 20,000 pts. Asia Pacific stocks fared well. Hang Seng Index opened higher 124 pts or 0.5% to 23,173. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index opened up 57 pts or 0.6% to 9,800.

CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +0.650 (+0.749%)    Short selling $60.63M; Ratio 6.476%   added 0.6%, while CKH HOLDINGS (00001.HK)  +0.350 (+0.382%)    Short selling $40.18M; Ratio 12.132%   dipped 0.1%. HANG LUNG PPT (00101.HK)  +0.300 (+1.594%)    Short selling $16.88M; Ratio 15.236%   , which will unveil its results today, opened 0.9% higher. LINK REIT (00823.HK)  +0.350 (+0.672%)    Short selling $6.76M; Ratio 5.179%   also climbed 0.9%.

SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK)  -0.550 (-1.556%)    Short selling $109.03M; Ratio 19.219%   results missed expectation, sending the stock lower 1.8%. The casino became the biggest faller of blue chips. CLSA lowers Beijing Ent Water (00371) to HK$6   CLSA cut its target price for Beijing Enterprises Water (BEW)(00371) by 8% to HK$6, and reiterated its "buy" rating.   The research house said BEW's share price has dropped 14% in the last two trading days.
