HSI Hikes 122 pts; STANCHART Rallies 6.9%

 Trading in the US bourse was suspended last night (16 January) on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Asia Pacific stocks traded mixed. Hang Seng Index, after opening higher 101 pts, once sagged 7 pts to bottom at 22,710 but reverted up later on to peak at 22,867. It finished the day higher 122 pts or 0.5% to 22,840. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index grew 36 pts or 0.4% to 9,702. Market turnover shrank to $50.679 billion.

CK PROPERTY(01113.HK)  +1.100 (+2.218%)    Short selling $16.81M; Ratio 3.689%   repurchased 4.24 million shares of the company, involving $210 million; it gained 2.2%, being the best performer among blue-chips.

GREATWALL MOTOR(02333.HK)  +0.100 (+1.258%)    Short selling $59.95M; Ratio 26.517%   jumped 1.3%. Military aerospace stocks and stocks with related background were speculated. Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
