HSI Rallies 218 pts; HSBC Holdings, Stanchart Jump

 Asia Pacific bourses broadly advanced amid decreased concerns over the Brexit vote. Hang Seng Index saw a widened gain after opening higher 255 pts this morning and escalated up to 288 pts to peak at 20,458. The benchmark index jumped 218 pts or 1% to 
20,388 at morning's close. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lifted 88 pts or 1% to 8,574. Half-day market turnover amounted to $29.477 billion.

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +1.650 (+3.459%)    Short selling $328.00M; Ratio 14.159%   led the gains and rallied 3.1% to $49.2. STANCHART (02888.HK)  +4.550 (+7.975%)    Short selling $69.55M; Ratio 10.357%   shot up 5.5%. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +0.500 (+0.589%)    Short selling $54.31M; Ratio 5.591%   edged up 0.2% after reporting a rise in 4G net additions to 409 million in May. Shares in TENCENT (00700.HK)  +1.800 (+1.066%)    Short selling $243.70M; Ratio 15.183%   climbed 0.7%. HKEX (00388.HK)  +2.900 (+1.618%)    Short selling $94.57M; Ratio 12.532%   gained 1.1%. 

POWER ASSETS (00006.HK)  +3.000 (+4.234%)    Short selling $13.64M; Ratio 1.471%   , CKI HOLDINGS (01038.HK)  +2.600 (+3.647%)    Short selling $81.10M; Ratio 18.986%   , CK PROPERTY (01113.HK)  +1.150 (+2.463%)    Short selling $32.44M; Ratio 14.352%   and CKH HOLDINGS (00001.HK)  +1.750 (+1.973%)    Short selling $53.28M; Ratio 8.585%   soared 1.9-3.7%, of which POWER ASSETS was the best performer of blue chips. Hong Kong developers recovered. WHARF HOLDINGS (00004.HK)  +1.100 (+2.497%)    Short selling $76.19M; Ratio 34.824%   , HANG LUNG PPT (00101.HK)  +0.360 (+2.449%)    Short selling $18.22M; Ratio 12.394%   , SWIRE PACIFIC A (00019.HK)  +1.650 (+1.969%)    Short selling $23.24M; Ratio 27.495%  and SHK PPT (00016.HK)  +2.050 (+2.347%)    Short selling $58.60M; Ratio 10.721%   surged 1.4-3%. 

Chinese financials fared well. ABC (01288.HK)  +0.080 (+2.867%)    Short selling $115.10M; Ratio 34.044%   , ahead of its ex-dividend date on Wednesday (22 June), added 1%. PING AN (02318.HK)  +0.400 (+1.185%)    Short selling $37.64M; Ratio 5.860%   and CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.300 (+1.827%)    Short selling $137.62M; Ratio 20.737%   rose 0.6% and 0.7% respectively.

CLSA lowers Beijing Ent Water (00371) to HK$6   CLSA cut its target price for Beijing Enterprises Water (BEW)(00371) by 8% to HK$6, and reiterated its "buy" rating.   The research house said BEW's share price has dropped 14% in the last two trading days. First, the 2017 earnings results are below expectations. Second, management is guiding for 20-25% net profit growth for 2018, versus 30% in the past few years. Management now has a cautious approach to water PPP (public-private partnership) projects, which is not  necessarily bad.   CLSA cut its 2018-19 earnings forecasts by 19%. At the current level, it believes many  of the negatives are already priced-in.

WKK INTL (HOLD) (00532.HK)    +0.100 (+15.152%)      announced the results for its subsidiary, Taiwan Kong King, for the nine months ended September 2014. The unaudited combined after-tax net profit decreased 30.26% to $12.239 million, compared with the same period last year. Revenue amounted to $177 million.
