HSI Falls 207 pts; BRILLIANCE CHI Rallies Over 4%
Hang Seng Index sustained the weakness and saw a widened loss after opening down 120 pts this morning, with a decline of up to 265 pts to the trough of 20,411, breaching below 50-day MA (20,437). The benchmark index fell 207 pts or 1% to 20,469 at morning's close. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 100 pts or 1.1% to 8,648. Half-day turnover amounted to $33.71 billion.

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  -1.350 (-2.621%)    Short selling $147.39M; Ratio 24.358%   's first quarter results topped estimates, yet the brokers held a mixed view on the bank's prospect. The heavyweight dived 2.1% this morning to $50.4. AIA (01299.HK)  -0.550 (-1.210%)    Short selling $93.62M; Ratio 22.609%   gave up 1.4%. STANCHART (02888.HK)  -0.850 (-1.401%)    Short selling $15.15M; Ratio 14.978%   , which will convene shareholders' meeting in London today, plunged 3.2%.

The market was solely supported by CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +0.150 (+0.171%)    Short selling $63.08M; Ratio 10.875%   , with a rise of 0.1% at midday. TENCENT (00700.HK)  -0.800 (-0.515%)    Short selling $272.77M; Ratio 21.127%   receded 0.6%. LI & FUNG (00494.HK)  -0.040 (-0.842%)    Short selling $4.03M; Ratio 26.137%   disposed of Asia consumer and healthcare distribution business to DCH HOLDINGS (01828.HK)  -0.020 (-0.608%)    Short selling $136.49K; Ratio 8.744%   , sending the two stocks lower by 1.9% and 0.3%. 

On the concern of oversupply, New York oil futures continued lower 2.5%. CNOOC (00883.HK)  -0.310 (-3.287%)    Short selling $59.29M; Ratio 15.184%   , SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK)  -0.140 (-2.597%)    Short selling $47.68M; Ratio 15.322%   , PETROCHINA (00857.HK)  -0.060 (-1.066%)    Short selling $59.85M; Ratio 16.688%   and KUNLUN ENERGY (00135.HK)  -0.190 (-2.844%)    Short selling $17.52M; Ratio 26.930%   plummeted 3.5%, 3.2%, 2% and 2.7% respectively. In addition, cement shares ANHUI CONCH (00914.HK)  -0.360 (-1.813%)    Short selling $19.51M; Ratio 14.113%   and CNBM (03323.HK)  -0.100 (-2.494%)    Short selling $8.43M; Ratio 25.284%   slid 2.8% and 2.5%. BRILLIANCE CHI (01114.HK)  +0.370 (+5.000%)    Short selling $22.65M; Ratio 16.331%   , however, jumped 4.5% on upbeat report of JP Morgan.

CLSA lowers Beijing Ent Water (00371) to HK$6   CLSA cut its target price for Beijing Enterprises Water (BEW)(00371) by 8% to HK$6, and reiterated its "buy" rating.   The research house said BEW's share price has dropped 14% in the last two trading days.
