Hang Seng Index opened higher 105 pts and receded after hitting the intra-day high at 20,347, with decline of up to 220 pts to the bottom of 20,022. The benchmark index retreated 127 pts or 0.6% to 20,115. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index retreated 33 pts or 0.4% to 8,452. Half-day turnover amounted to $32.741 billion.

CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK)  -0.140 (-1.140%)    Short selling $1.15M; Ratio 16.991%   sagged 1.1% after clarifying that the acquisition of Virgin Australia is a groundless rumour.

Technology stocks stabilized. TENCENT (00700.HK)  +0.300 (+0.192%)    Short selling $129.87M; Ratio 12.981%   gained 0.4%. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK)  +0.010 (+0.191%)    Short selling $57.13M; Ratio 28.657%   bounced back 1.5% this morning after Morgan Stanley made a downward adjustment on its target price and rating. Macau gaming stocks saw a recovery, with GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)  +0.250 (+1.016%)    Short selling $26.99M; Ratio 23.605%  and SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK)  0.000 (0.000%)    Short selling $19.56M; Ratio 11.376%   jumped 2% and 1.5%. The former was the best performer of blue chips.

Real estate developers were under pressure.
