HSI up 143 pts!
On the futures settlement day, Hong Hong bourses headed north. Hang Seng Index once receded in the early session and hovered at the level around 19,000 pts, after opening higher by 31 pts this morning. The benchmark index bounced back and eventually finished the day trading higher by 143 pts or 0.75% to 19,195 pts. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index advanced 69 pts or 0.87% to 8,028 pts at close. Market turnover amounted to $75.472 billion.

The U.S Federal Reserve, as expected, maintained the interest rate unchanged. In the statement, the Fed mentioned that it is closely monitoring global economic and financial developments. Heavyweight HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +0.450 (+0.851%)    Short selling $523.17M; Ratio 43.448%   ticked up 0.96%, while STANCHART (02888.HK)  -0.400 (-0.755%)    Short selling $12.11M; Ratio 12.559%   inched down 0.8%. AIA (01299.HK)  -0.700 (-1.630%)    Short selling $501.72M; Ratio 37.511%   faded 1.6%. TENCENT (00700.HK)  +1.100 (+0.783%)    Short selling $913.23M; Ratio 26.874%   and CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +1.000 (+1.195%)    Short selling $584.03M; Ratio 43.186%   edged up 0.8% and 1.2% separately.

HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK)  +2.700 (+6.742%)    Short selling $292.12M; Ratio 39.283%   , being the biggest gainer among other blue chippers, jumped 6.7% to close at $42.75. Citigroup said that Lee Shau-kee may arrange for restructuring and Bank of America Merrill Lynch also reiterated the Buy rating for the developer. In contrast, SINO LAND (00083.HK)  -0.190 (-1.935%)    Short selling $7.87M; Ratio 12.474%   posted the greatest loss among other blue chips and faded 1.9% to $9.63 at close.

Macau gaming stocks continued to lead the gain. GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)  +1.150 (+5.122%)    Short selling $245.03M; Ratio 25.740%   and SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK)  +1.650 (+6.721%)    Short selling $261.55M; Ratio 21.521%   leaped 5.1% and 6.7%. SANDS CHINA LTD reported a year on year decrease of 18.5% in adjusted property EBITDA in the fourth quarter of 2015. Its chairman said that he saw stabilization in GGR, while part of the brokers said that the Macau gaming stock reported better-than-expected EBITDA in the last quarter.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period. HSBC HOLDINGS Further Expands Mainland Biz; Sets up 24 China Desks Stuart Gulliver, chief executive officer of HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)    -1.550 (-1.855%)       Short selling $345.90M; Ratio 13.050%      , said in 2017 results announcement that the Group’s business mix is more oriented towards Asia, improving its ability to channel the economic and social changes taking place within the world’s fastest growing region.
