HSI RECOVERS +223 PTS

Hang Seng Index opened up 317 pts or 1.6% this morning. General Administration of Customs announced that, in RMB terms, China's exports recorded a rise of 2.3% in December 2015 as compared with the corresponding period of last year. During the period, the country's imports receded 4%. Both figures beat the market expectations. Hong Kong benchmark index once surged by more than 500 pts but the increase narrowed in late session. It last stood at 19,934, up 223 pts or 1.1%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 55 pts or 0.7% to 8,494. The market turnover amounted to $77.352 billion.

Two stocks advanced 4.8% and 3.8%, being the best performing blue chips. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  +1.950 (+2.448%)    Short selling $127.58M; Ratio 8.756%   shot up 2.4% to $81.6.

BANK OF E ASIA (00023.HK)  +0.400 (+1.636%)    Short selling $56.00M; Ratio 45.103%   increased 1.6% while BOC HONG KONG (02388.HK)  -0.050 (-0.224%)    Short selling $70.80M; Ratio 25.921%   gave up 0.2%. DAH SING (00440.HK)  +3.250 (+9.129%)    Short selling $2.59M; Ratio 5.481%   and DAHSING BANKING (02356.HK)  +0.280 (+2.310%)    Short selling $9.35M; Ratio 15.641%   jointly announced that both companies are exploring strategic alternatives for Dah Sing Life Assurance’s business and Dah Sing Bank’s life insurance product offerings. Two listed companies leaped 9.1% and 2.3% after the midday. CHINA LIFE (02628.HK)  +0.250 (+1.193%)    Short selling $96.88M; Ratio 7.543%   and PING AN (02318.HK)  +0.500 (+1.403%)    Short selling $118.11M; Ratio 7.799%   climbed 1.2% and 1.4%. ICBC (01398.HK)  +0.010 (+0.240%)    Short selling $71.30M; Ratio 7.118%   only edged up 0.2%.

National Development and Reform Commission lowered the prices of refined oil. CNOOC (00883.HK)  +0.200 (+2.829%)    Short selling $150.63M; Ratio 36.116%   jumped 2.8%. PETROCHINA (00857.HK)  +0.060 (+1.367%)    Short selling $74.41M; Ratio 17.733%   and SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK)  +0.070 (+1.667%)    Short selling $78.65M; Ratio 15.051%   gained 1.4% and 1.7%. Airlines headed north. CHINA EAST AIR (00670.HK)  +0.240 (+6.366%)    Short selling $37.37M; Ratio 19.486%   and CHINA SOUTH AIR (01055.HK)  +0.310 (+6.366%)    Short selling $49.57M; Ratio 34.632%   surged by over 6%. AIR CHINA (00753.HK)  +0.160 (+3.150%)    Short selling $29.52M; Ratio 23.272%   jumped over 3%.
