HSI Falls 283 pts

 Hang Seng Index opened lower 233 pts or 1.2% this morning amid weak external markets and slumped up to 325 pts at the bottom of 19,195 in morning session. After midday, the benchmark index saw loss narrow to 19,439, yet the decline widen in the later session and finished the day trading down by 283 pts or 1.5% at 19,237. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index fell 101 pts or 1.2% to 8,134. The market turnover amounted to $75.026 billion.

Heavyweight HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  -1.750 (-3.119%)    Short selling $992.30M; Ratio 39.043%   tumbled 3.1% to nearly 7-year low at $54.35. AIA (01299.HK)  -1.100 (-2.591%)    Short selling $193.00M; Ratio 18.228%   drifted lower 2.6%. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  -0.350 (-0.435%)    Short selling $96.51M; Ratio 8.259%   and TENCENT (00700.HK)  -1.000 (-0.730%)    Short selling $627.15M; Ratio 21.076%   lost 0.4% and 0.7% separately.

Macau gaming stocks jumped amid weak market, with GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)  +0.750 (+3.546%)    Short selling $87.97M; Ratio 27.414%   and SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK)  +0.850 (+3.926%)    Short selling $59.98M; Ratio 9.327%   escalated 3.5% and 3.9%, both of which were best performing blue chippers. WYNN MACAU (01128.HK)  +0.360 (+4.972%)    Short selling $23.50M; Ratio 9.588%   expected last quarter to record net revenue of US$550 to US$560 million, sending its share price up by 5% today. Domestic demand stocks WANT WANT CHINA (00151.HK)  +0.100 (+2.088%)    Short selling $32.49M; Ratio 16.241%   and HENGAN INT'L (01044.HK)  +0.950 (+1.448%)    Short selling $115.06M; Ratio 44.795%   shot up 2% and 1.4% respectively. 

Individual stocks rocketed. JUJIANG CONS (01459.HK)  +1.060 (+37.589%)   rallied 37.6% to close at $3.88. NNK (03773.HK)  +0.180 (+12.414%)   soared 12.4%.

CLSA lowers Beijing Ent Water (00371) to HK$6   CLSA cut its target price for Beijing Enterprises Water (BEW)(00371) by 8% to HK$6, and reiterated its "buy" rating.   The research house said BEW's share price has dropped 14% in the last two trading days.
