HSI Adds 152 pts, Led by Casinos
The US stocks traded mixed last night (27 March) since the US President Trump finally withdrew the new health insurance bill. Dow Jones Industrial Average fell for eight straight days and ended lower 45 pts. Hang Seng Index closed the day up 152 pts or 0.6% at 24,345, reclaiming 10-day MA (24,303). Hang Seng China Enterprises Index hiked 63 pts or 0.6% at 10,425. Market turnover amounted to $69.454 billion.

MGM CHINA (02282.HK)  +0.680 (+4.398%)    Short selling $12.62M; Ratio 15.919%   and WYNN MACAU (01128.HK)  +0.640 (+4.134%)    Short selling $52.15M; Ratio 24.693%   gained over 4%. SJM HOLDINGS (00880.HK)  +0.150 (+2.412%)    Short selling $5.06M; Ratio 8.056%   rose 2.4%. Japan's gaming-concept stocks were speculated to climb higher. Domestic consumption stocks fared well. LENOVO GROUP (00992.HK)  +0.200 (+4.098%)    Short selling $50.74M; Ratio 5.637%   gained 4.1%, posting the largest growth among blue-chips. TINGYI (00322.HK)  +0.500 (+5.423%)    Short selling $69.21M; Ratio 24.977%   's 2016 net profit fell 31% yearly. With brokers lifted the target prices, TINGYI surged 5.4%. MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK)  +0.260 (+1.720%)    Short selling $3.45M; Ratio 2.531%   and WANT WANT CHINA (00151.HK)  +0.080 (+1.541%)    Short selling $14.73M; Ratio 24.554%   inched up 1.7% and 1.5%. BELLE INT'L (01880.HK)  +0.070 (+1.394%)    Short selling $2.15M; Ratio 4.412%   added 1.4%.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period. The bank continued to expand its presence in mainland China with the launch of new retail banking products and increased lending in the Pearl River Delta.
