HSI Opens Up 48 pts; HKEX Sees Continuous Support

European and the U.S bourses traded in a narrow range, while Hang Seng Index slightly opened higher 48 pts or 0.2% to 23,533 this morning. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index opened up 25 pts or 0.3% to 9,981.

Shares in TENCENT (00700.HK)  +1.200 (+0.588%)    Short selling $155.98M; Ratio 4.780%   and AIA (01299.HK)  -0.300 (-0.628%)    Short selling $171.73M; Ratio 14.838%   ticked up 0.8% and 0.5%. The market widely anticipated the upcoming launch of "Bond Connect" and "ETF Connect", sending HKEX (00388.HK)  +0.900 (+0.460%)    Short selling $327.94M; Ratio 11.452%   higher 0.3% to $196 after yesterday's rally of 4.7%.

Chinese financials continued to fare well. CCB (00939.HK)  +0.030 (+0.513%)    Short selling $693.00M; Ratio 21.255%   , ICBC (01398.HK)  +0.010 (+0.207%)    Short selling $254.23M; Ratio 14.725%   , BANK OF CHINA (03988.HK)  +0.060 (+1.653%)    Short selling $452.59M; Ratio 22.440%   and PING AN (02318.HK)  +0.600 (+1.460%)    Short selling $108.42M; Ratio 8.664%   opened up 0.6%-0.9%. Chinese real estate developers saw support despite the tightening measures of Beijing on second-home mortgage loan. CHINA OVERSEAS (00688.HK)  +0.350 (+1.452%)    Short selling $84.08M; Ratio 5.953%   and CHINA RES LAND (01109.HK)  +0.800 (+3.855%)    Short selling $85.16M; Ratio 9.402%   climbed 0.8% and 1%, with the latter being the best performing blue chip so far. CHINA VANKE (02202.HK)  0.000 (0.000%)    Short selling $28.38M; Ratio 10.033%   , however, retreated 0.5%.

New York oil futures saw a recovery. Yet, PETROCHINA (00857.HK)  0.000 (0.000%)    Short selling $54.67M; Ratio 7.611%   and SINOPEC CORP (00386.HK)  -0.020 (-0.328%)    Short selling $77.96M; Ratio 16.233%   sagged 0.5%. TSINGTAO BREW (00168.HK)  +1.400 (+4.106%)    Short selling $72.55M; Ratio 38.584%   escalated 2.2%, being the best performing HSCEI constituent.
