HSI Down 31 pts; CLP HOLDINGS Slumps Over 3%
As markets are watching the Fed rate results, Hang Seng Index opened up 63 pts and once hiked 147 pts to peak at 22,277. Market rumored that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will announce JPY27 trillion (equivalent to US$255 billion) stimulus plan after midday. The benchmark index fell 31 pts or 0.14% to 22,098 at midday. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index sagged 21 pts or 0.2% to 9,040. Market turnover amounted to $37.673 billion. 

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +0.250 (+0.498%)    Short selling $83.61M; Ratio 16.364%   and CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  -0.250 (-0.256%)    Short selling $78.33M; Ratio 10.956%   held steady, up 0.5% and 0.3%. STANCHART (02888.HK)  +1.550 (+2.500%)    Short selling $4.03M; Ratio 3.362%   surged 2.6%. AIA (01299.HK)  -0.300 (-0.602%)    Short selling $21.86M; Ratio 3.484%   , which will announce interim results tomorrow, lost 0.6%. TENCENT (00700.HK)  +1.300 (+0.698%)    Short selling $49.72M; Ratio 4.917%   lifted 0.7%. 

Utilities declined. CLP HOLDINGS (00002.HK)  -2.300 (-2.741%)    Short selling $9.56M; Ratio 4.079%   retreated evidently, diving 3.2% to $81.25, representing the worst-performing blue chip. HKELECTRIC-SS (02638.HK)  -0.480 (-6.178%)    Short selling $22.15M; Ratio 6.864%   's half-year net profit dropped 8.6%. Market was worried about the increasing interest expenses may hurt future profit. Its share price tumbled 5.5%. HK & CHINA GAS (00003.HK)  -0.120 (-0.822%)    Short selling $16.76M; Ratio 25.243%   softened nearly 1%. 

Chinese auto stocks had a weaker tone. GREATWALL MOTOR (02333.HK)  -0.110 (-1.398%)    Short selling $31.24M; Ratio 24.322%   slipped 2.8%. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK)  -0.140 (-2.697%)    Short selling $15.43M; Ratio 6.486%   slumped 3.5%. GAC GROUP (02238.HK)  -0.260 (-2.534%)    Short selling $7.51M; Ratio 13.658%   dived 2.9%.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period. HSBC HOLDINGS Further Expands Mainland Biz; Sets up 24 China Desks Stuart Gulliver, chief executive officer of HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)    -1.550 (-1.855%)       Short selling $345.90M; Ratio 13.050%      , said in 2017 results announcement that the Group’s business mix is more oriented towards Asia, improving its ability to channel the economic and social changes taking place within the world’s fastest growing region. The bank continued to expand its presence in mainland China with the launch of new retail banking products and increased lending in the Pearl River Delta. HSBC now have a total of 24 China desks aimed at supporting Chinese businesses with global outbound ambitions, 20 of which are along the ‘Belt and Road’ routes.
