HSI Adds 126 pts; TENCENT Swings Down from Peak 

The US stocks traded mixed yesterday (9 May). Nasdaq Composite Index hit a new high. Hang Seng Index opened up 42 pts and climbed 275 pts at most to peak at 25,164. At close, the benchmark index increased 126 pts or 0.5% to 25,015. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 98 pts or 1% to 10,227. Market turnover rose to $93.644 billion.

CKH HOLDINGS jumped 2.3% to close at $100.7, rising above $100. CKI HOLDINGS (01038.HK)  +0.900 (+1.318%)    Short selling $33.51M; Ratio 12.929%   also hiked 1.3%. PRC bank stocks increased, following the mass. Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period.
