HSI Rises 12 pts; HKEX Jumps 5.6%

 Hang Seng Index concluded the day trading higher by 12 pts or 0.06% to 20,684. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index advanced 45 pts or 0.5% to 8,928. Market turnover amounted to $80.125 billion.

HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)  +0.300 (+0.600%)    Short selling $43.24M; Ratio 7.256%   rose 0.6%. CHINA MOBILE (00941.HK)  -0.700 (-0.823%)    Short selling $359.97M; Ratio 25.466%   and TENCENT (00700.HK)  +0.200 (+0.127%)    Short selling $709.87M; Ratio 24.160%   ticked up 0.8% and 0.1%. In addition, STANCHART (02888.HK)  +3.750 (+7.346%)    Short selling $28.00M; Ratio 6.363%   escalated 7.3% to $54.8. HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK)  +0.600 (+1.254%)    Short selling $51.73M; Ratio 17.771%   is scheduled to release its annual results today and the company convened a press conference. The stock added 1.3% to close at $48.45. HENDERSON INV (00097.HK)  +0.010 (+1.493%)   and HK & CHINA GAS (00003.HK)  +0.120 (+0.846%)    Short selling $106.18M; Ratio 53.054%   perked up 1.5% and 0.8%. 

On the hope for possible good news from Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect, HKEX (00388.HK)  +9.800 (+5.581%)    Short selling $356.07M; Ratio 10.329%   rocketed 5.6% to end the day at $185.4, becoming the best performer of blue chip. Brokerage stocks fared well, with HAITONG SEC (06837.HK)  +0.680 (+5.380%)    Short selling $75.82M; Ratio 8.377%   , CITIC SEC (06030.HK)  +1.360 (+7.935%)    Short selling $209.60M; Ratio 22.289%   , GF SEC (01776.HK)  +1.740 (+10.407%)    Short selling $30.67M; Ratio 11.839%   and HTSC (06886.HK)  +1.660 (+10.440%)    Short selling $39.35M; Ratio 7.854%   rallied 5.4%, 7.9%, 10.4% and 10.4%. 

BONJOUR HOLD (00653.HK)  -0.040 (-8.989%)   reported a 92% surge in 2015 profit but a significant decline of 95% in final dividend. The stock plunged 9% today.

Business receipts in value terms of most of the major service industries showed increases of different magnitudes in the second quarter of 2014 when compared with the second quarter of 2013, according to the provisional figures of business receipts indices released today (September 11) by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD). Comparing the second quarter of 2014 with the second quarter of 2013, double-digit increases were recorded in business receipts of the real estate (+20.7%); insurance (+18.9%); courier (+11.8%); administrative and support services (+10.2%); and warehousing and storage (+10.0%) industries. On the other hand, the retail industry recorded a more noticeable decrease (-7.0%) in business receipts during the same period. HSBC HOLDINGS Further Expands Mainland Biz; Sets up 24 China Desks Stuart Gulliver, chief executive officer of HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK)    -1.550 (-1.855%)       Short selling $345.90M; Ratio 13.050%      , said in 2017 results announcement that the Group’s business mix is more oriented towards Asia, improving its ability to channel the economic and social changes taking place within the world’s fastest growing region. The bank continued to expand its presence in mainland China with the launch of new retail banking products and increased lending in the Pearl River Delta. HSBC now have a total of 24 China desks aimed at supporting Chinese businesses with global outbound ambitions, 20 of which are along the ‘Belt and Road’ routes.
