HSI Up 348 pts; Macau Gaming, Domestic Stocks Soar
Hong Kong market fared well, following the U.S stocks rally. The market has lower expectation for interest rate hike in the remaining period of the year due to the lower than expected payrolls data in September. After surging by 659 pts on the last trading day, Hang Seng Index opened with an upside gap of 424 pts. The benchmark index soared 474 pts at most in the morning session but met resistance at the level of 22,000. It eventually closed at 21,854, up 348 pts or 1.6%. Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 197 pts or 2% to 9,883. Market turnover dropped to $75.92 billion.
Macau gaming stocks continued their uptrend. SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) +0.850 (+3.434%) Short selling $140.03M; Ratio 13.182% and GALAXY ENT (00027.HK) +1.150 (+5.300%) Short selling $121.12M; Ratio 15.848% advanced approximately 3.4% and 5.3%. On the other hand, automobile stocks softened after increasing for a few straight days. GREATWALL MOTOR (02333.HK) -0.230 (-2.376%) Short selling $244.85M; Ratio 35.247% receded 2.4% and BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) -0.200 (-0.468%) Short selling $65.54M; Ratio 18.463% edged down 0.5%.

TINGYI (00322.HK) +0.720 (+5.634%) Short selling $48.48M; Ratio 44.329% and BELLE INT'L (01880.HK) +0.340 (+5.007%) Short selling $17.81M; Ratio 15.416% leaped 5.6% and 5%, former of which was the best performing blue chip. MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK) +0.600 (+2.069%) Short selling $57.80M; Ratio 34.678% and TSINGTAO BREW (00168.HK) +0.850 (+2.504%) Short selling $15.33M; Ratio 18.052% climbed 2.1% and 2.5%. GOME (00493.HK) +0.040 (+3.008%) Short selling $44.82M; Ratio 16.212% advanced 3%. In addition, SA SA INT'L (00178.HK) +0.180 (+6.000%) Short selling $3.83M; Ratio 19.406% jumped 6%. However, CHINA RESOURCES (00291.HK) -0.500 (-3.285%) Short selling $34.17M; Ratio 22.558% receded from the over-2-year high and slumped 3.3%, being the worst performing blue chip.
GLENCORE-S (00805.HK) +1.900 (+17.757%) once skyrocketed 72% and the increase narrowed to 17.8% at the market's close. It last stood at $12.6. The market sources said that Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, along with Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, were in talks with GLENCORE-S on the acquisition of its agricultural assets valued as much as US$10.5 billion
